Hurry Up and Fail
Hurry Up and Fail! As a recovering “Perfectionist” even writing the word “fail” is cringe. Although I’ve been an entrepreneur for 20+ years once running a Cleaning Business and Co-Owner of a Trucking Business and Construction Business.
Running my current Business Be You In HD, LLC has been the scariest most exhilarating ride to date. In the last 4 years I have learned to fail by consistently doing (everything you put out won’t turn to Gold) and I have also learned what I suck at and what I’m really great at. Connecting with people, building thriving businesses, writing Blogs, Books and posts I’m great at. I’m not so great at sending out emails to share and communicate all that information.
Who noticed August’s Newsletter was missing the entire write-up? Go back and check. I didn’t notice it until I went to send out today’s email. Guess who’ll be giving the job of emailing back over to her assistant? This Girl!! How’d I miss the entire 5 paragraph Write-Up? Every mistake or failure works out for your good, I had to learn the lesson that I’m not meant to wear all the “Hats” in my business. It’s perfectly “Ok” to hire someone to take care of certain aspects of your business. Making Mistakes is Par for the course, the trick of it is to take what you learned, apply what you’ve learned and keep going.
So Today, I’m going to share 5 Tips to Fail Your Way to Success in Your Life and Biz
If you’ve been following our Newsletter, this quarter we’re focused on helping women to activate their Faith, as per usual and better manage and grow their Finances ( I know, I know) as a Woman of Faith, hear me out; The two can work to enhance the other after all Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Khadijah(RA) used money to fund the advent of Islam.
Tip 1: Humble Yourself & Acknowledge Your Imperfections
A few years ago I was consumed with being a Perfectionist and doing everything right. The more I connect with Faith the more I realize that I and we were all created Imperfect and there is so much beauty in that. So Humble yourself and realize you will make a mistake or two or ten. What will you do with what you learn? is what’s most important. How can you take that information and create better habits to have better experiences in your life or business. In my book Not Without My Hijab: 11 Steps to Reclaiming Your Faith I take you through a writing exercise to help you get started reversing your thinking when confronted with seemingly negative scenarios.
Halimah's Sophomore book is taking the World by storm; Helping women and girls reclaim and embrace the beauty of faith. Women often appear to suffer from the misconception that to be successful in business or accepted in society they have to diminish or denounce their faith or beliefs. In "Not Without My hijab", Halimah walks you through her personal journey to self discovery while navigating College, Corporate America and relationships. Halimah guides you through 11 Steps to Reclaiming Your Faith. In her travels as a business coach, she's encountered women cross culturally who face the same internal conflict regarding their religious identity and has written this book to help guide them back to being their most authentic selves so they can live their absolute best life.

Tip 2 : Get Disciplined
Many think the most difficult step to change is acknowledging our weaknesses or the areas where we fall short. I admit its pretty hard but the step for me that is most difficult is the step that comes after you determine you need to change a few things. And that starts with creating better habits, being more disciplined. If you want to lead a healthier lifestyle you have to choose more nutritious foods, cut out poor eating habits and create and stick to an exercise routine. If you want to have a deeper connection in faith you may have to limit your time watching TV or hanging out with certain people.
If you want to save money for personal or business investments you have to cutout unnecessary spending and sacrifice some of the things you enjoy now, to reap the benefits later. One of the ways I have been able to help myself and my clients become more disciplined, achieve more of their goals and desired lifestyle is to attach a goal and plan for their success.

Tip 3: Find Your Community
Hanging around people that don’t support your plight is easily a recipe for failure. Find people who are moving in the same direction as you, who share the same values, morals and beliefs in the areas you find important. It’s ok to differ in the method of achieving the goal but the desire to want more out of life and business has to be there in order to have thriving relationships and business. Need help staying focused on your goals? Creating a deeper connection with self and God? Want to connect with like minded women? Join the Boss Hijabi Society an online community of female founders.
Tip 4: Never Stop Learning
If you’re not learning on a daily basis you’re losing. Ouch Right? I know. I love a good movie and spending time with my family and friends but I love learning new things. It helps to keep me stimulated and focused. When My Iman (faith) is low I look to prayer first and then what have I learned about Islam recently? What questions do I have that haven’t been answered? What are the common themes that are showing up in my life that I may not have been paying attention to?
This can be a contributing factor in many other areas of our lives including our emotional wellness, relationships and at work. Register for the Great Women of Islam Class where I’ll be helping to empower you as a woman of faith and apply practical tips we learn from 27 Women (RA) who surrounded the Prophet(SAW).
Women need to define what power means for themselves in order to take hold of it. To reclaim agency over themselves. As women of faith we misconstrue what that actually looks like in practice because we are not reading, we are not researching and learning for ourselves. It’s important for us to approach life from our Natural lens (Fitrah) as women and not from that of men. We are most powerful when we stand in our fullness as women.
The barriers to women taking on more leadership roles:
Poor relationship building skills
Lack of access/understanding of spiritual information
Little knowledge of female role models of faith
Practical ways they can incorporate this information into their lifestyles.
In Powher, Halimah works to address many of the misconceptions about Hadith and ayah that govern the way women of faith should conduct themselves especially within their roles as community leaders, business owners, professional women and more. She also shares the different types of relationships powerful women need in order to thrive in their many roles. Also included are the stories of 7 female role models from the Islamic faith tradition and practical ways we can apply what we learn from them to our businesses and life.
“We need more women in leadership within our communities and society in order to create a world that benefits ALL. Equitable distribution of power will facilitate this, return balance and lead to our entire society’s progress. “ Halimah Deoliveira
Where women thrive, whole societies thrive.

Tip 5: Always Be A Good Giver
If I had to choose one takeaway from 2020 that elevated my consciousness and has been a major contributor to my success this year it has been being a “ Good Giver.”
Amidst the chaos of this year Allah (God) has given us some major opportunities to reflect on our current state and to change what is no longer serving our growth. The benefits of giving Charity is often overlooked when looking at Business or Life Success. How can giving my money away help me?
Being a Good Giver is about being intentional with your giving. Where can You do the most good and make the most impact? What causes make you come alive? Who do you genuinely enjoy helping and serving? We were created to worship God and part of that worship is helping others to come to know God through us and our actions; It’s also about being of benefit to the people and the community with the gifts we’ve been given (i.e. Wealth, health, knowledge, resources etc.)
If you are looking for causes to give to this year, please consider contributing to my Somalia Water Well campaign in partnership with Penny Appeal USA. All proceeds go directly to fund the building of 3 Water Wells in remote villages in Somalia inshallah. Jazakallah Khair in advance for your support.
